Partners4Pain is an exciting collaboration between community members, organizations and researchers. We have come together to listen, learn, develop and evaluate creative solutions for back and neck pain conditions. Click here for a summary of what we have learned so far.
Our focus is to work with persons minoritized or marginalized because of race, ethnicity and income, and who are often left out of research.
We realize that different people might prefer different terms to describe themselves, and this might change over time. We also recognize that we might not fully understand people’s preferences and use terms they find disrespectful or problematic. Please know, this isn’t our intention. If you have suggestions or opinions about this, please let us know…we look forward to learning from you!

We believe effective pain management begins with trusting relationships. We aim to build authentic collaborations with community members and organizations to tackle pain together.
We believe the best solutions for addressing pain will come from listening to those who are living with it. We have learned from people touched by pain and have created programs focused on what matters most to them.
We believe everybody deserves access to safe and effective science based solutions for pain. We want to address the barriers people with pain face, including systemic biases and unequal treatment.

In 2022, UROC partnered with the Minneapolis-based Collective Action Lab, the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, the Native American Community Clinic, and Liberty Community Church Northside Healing Space to launch an initiative aimed at improving maternal health outcomes and advancing birth justice related issues in Hennepin County. The initiative—called the Birth Justice Collaborative (BJC)—set out to engage communities in co-designing strategies designed to improve birth outcomes using community-based knowledge and wisdom. This UROC Critical Conversation will showcase the BJC's five priority strategies that are already creating positive change. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested, but not required.
"Just Sam" offers a comprehensive look at how trauma impacts black men and the African American community. Samuel Simmons, Jr., also known as Sam, wrote this book simply as a retelling of one man's journey but to encourage readers to confront uncomfortable truths and move beyond mere resilience. He presents a blueprint for community healing and growth. Additional Date: November 14, 2024, 6 pm to 8 pm, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center 270 Kent St, Saint Paul, MN 55102, https://just-sam-book-signing.eventbrite.com/
